Following criticism from the Office of the President of Kosovo, the Special Prosecution Office has confirmed it has appointed a lead prosecutor to investigate death threats made against President Vjosa Osmani.

In an official statement, the Special Prosecution said that all necessary investigative actions have already been initiated in connection with the threats directed at the President of the Republic of Kosovo.

“Upon receiving information from the Kosovo Police, the duty prosecutor from the Special Prosecution authorized the competent police units to act immediately to identify and track down the suspect(s) responsible for this criminal act,” the statement reads.

Immediate Action Promised After Initial Inaction Criticized

The response comes after the Presidency expressed serious concern earlier today, stating that no prosecutor had yet been assigned to the case, nearly a week after the latest threat was reported through the official email address of the President’s Office.

In its update, the Special Prosecution clarified that on Thursday, when the initial police report was received, a dedicated prosecutor was appointed without delay and that the case is being treated as a high priority.

“The assigned prosecutor will take all necessary investigative steps to fully resolve the matter and ensure those responsible are brought to justice.”

Security Coordination and Public Assurance

The Special Prosecution also reassured the public that it is working in full coordination with Kosovo’s security institutions to uphold constitutional order and ensure the protection of the country’s highest officials.

Meanwhile, Bekim Kupina, media advisor to President Osmani, earlier criticized the apparent lack of prosecutorial action, emphasizing that despite the case being opened by Kosovo Police, no prosecutor had been officially designated until now.
