The Kosovo Special Prosecutor’s Office has confirmed that investigations and evidence gathering are ongoing in relation to the November 29 attack on the water canal in Zubin Potok.
Liridonë Kozmaqi, the Head of the Public Communication Office at the Kosovo State Prosecutor’s Office, informed RTV21 that two individuals are currently in pretrial detention, suspected of involvement in the attack.
“The case you’ve inquired about is in the investigation phase, with evidence collection and analysis taking place at the Special Prosecutor’s Office. So far, we have two individuals who are in pretrial detention. This is all the information that can be made public at this stage of the investigation,” Kozmaqi stated for RTV21.
The suspects are charged with crimes including jeopardizing constitutional order by destroying or damaging public installations and equipment, committing terrorist acts, and unlawful possession of firearms. The Kosovo Special Prosecutor’s Office (PSRK) had previously announced that ten individuals were questioned by the police in connection to the terrorist attack on November 29 at the “Ibër-Lepenc” water canal. Of these, D.V. and D.M. were detained, with the former placed in pretrial detention, while the latter was released under regular procedures. On December 1, another suspect was arrested.
Additionally, on November 30, Kosovo Police, in coordination with the Special Prosecutor’s Office, conducted searches at various locations, recovering and seizing different weapons and equipment related to the attack.
The European Union has classified the November 29 explosion in Zubin Potok as a terrorist attack.
The Government of Kosovo has confirmed that investigations into the attack on the critical infrastructure of the Ibër Lepenc canal are ongoing, with active collaboration from international partners.
Government spokesperson Perparim Kryeziu stated that Kosovo authorities remain in constant communication with their international counterparts. “We welcome the support provided by them for a thorough investigation into the November 29 attack. Our police have partnerships with Western democratic countries, and their expertise will certainly assist in the investigation,” Kryeziu said.
