Tomorrow, December 27, Kosovo’s citizens abroad will participate in the early parliamentary elections at 29 diplomatic missions located in 18 countries around the world.

The voting process will start at 07:00 AM at the Consulate of Kosovo in Istanbul, which is the first diplomatic mission to open for voters. A total of 116 voters are registered there.

Following Turkey, voting will continue in 15 European countries, where 17,761 voters are registered, including Germany, Switzerland, the United Kingdom, France, Belgium, Norway, Austria, Sweden, Slovenia, Denmark, Italy, Croatia, the Netherlands, the Czech Republic, and Hungary.

Finally, voting will take place in the Americas, covering 1,310 registered voters in the United States and Canada, at diplomatic missions in Washington, New York, Ottawa, and Toronto.

Valmir Elezi, spokesperson for the Central Election Commission (CEC/KQZ), confirmed to KosovaPress that 40 polling stations have been organized in total for these diplomatic missions.

“On December 27, the voting process will be held in 16 embassies and 13 consulates across 18 countries. Of the 77,086 registered voters abroad, only 19,187 Kosovar citizens have registered to vote physically at these 29 missions. All election materials have been delivered and are ready for voters,” Elezi stated.

Simultaneously, the postal voting process, which began around two weeks ago, will conclude. All votes collected via diplomatic missions and postal voting will be transported to Kosovo for counting.

“Before election day in Kosovo, postal votes for 57,899 registered voters abroad will be finalized. Voters have had 12 days to send their ballots, received from the CEC, to one of the 23 postal drop-off locations worldwide, including Kosovo. All ballots from diplomatic missions and postal voting will be retrieved and counted in Kosovo,” Elezi added.

He emphasized that Kosovar citizens registered to vote from abroad are legally removed from the domestic voter list to prevent double voting. Citizens living abroad who are not registered for overseas voting remain on the domestic voter list and can vote in person if they are in Kosovo on election day.
