The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) officially announced today, through a Note Verbale sent to the Embassy of the Republic of Kosovo in Abu Dhabi, that the Agreement on the Mutual Recognition of Driving Licenses between the two countries has entered into force.

This agreement allows citizens of Kosovo and the UAE to convert their driving licenses without having to undergo theoretical or practical driving tests in the host country. It marks an important step toward facilitating mobility and integration for citizens of both nations.

“This development is the result of close cooperation between the relevant institutions of both countries and demonstrates the mutual commitment to strengthening and deepening bilateral relations.
The agreement was signed on December 4, 2024, in Abu Dhabi by Kosovo’s Minister of Internal Affairs, Mr. Xhelal Sveçla, and the UAE’s Minister of Interior, H.H. Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan,” the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Diaspora (MFA) of Kosovo said in a statement.

The MFA added that this is the second major agreement between Kosovo and the UAE, following the January 2024 agreement that enabled visa-free travel for Kosovo citizens. It further strengthens ties with a country of significant political and economic influence both in the region and globally.

The Ministry expressed its highest appreciation and gratitude to the UAE authorities for their continued and constructive cooperation, the statement concluded.
