Kosovo’s outgoing Minister of Defense, Ejup Maqedonci, announced a new strategic agreement signed on May 13 in the United States between the Kosovo Security Force (FSK) and the U.S. Department of Defense. The accord was signed by U.S. General John Philips and FSK Commander General Bashkim Jashari.

Maqedonci emphasized that the agreement focuses on interoperability in communication and cybersecurity, deepening cooperation between Kosovo and the U.S. in defense and security.

“This agreement builds upon a previous pact signed in 2023 by Prime Minister Albin Kurti and the former U.S. Ambassador Hovenier,” Maqedonci explained to Euronews. “It is crucial for addressing sensitive information security issues, especially as American systems will be used within Kosovo’s Security Force.”

Kosovo is now the 33rd country to sign such a defense cooperation agreement with the U.S., opening pathways for collaboration across all defense sectors, particularly in technology and protection of sensitive data.
