The full recount of votes from Kosovo’s early parliamentary elections is entering its final phase. So far, authorities have processed 1,591 of 2,557 polling stations, representing over 62% of the total. The process has already been fully completed in 23 municipalities, according to the Central Election Commission (CEC).
The recount began on Tuesday, January 13, 2026, at 6:00 PM, following the discovery of discrepancies in votes for parliamentary candidates. The CEC is continuing to count ballots in the Counting and Results Center according to the decisions on which polling stations required a recount.
In parallel, 23 individuals have been placed in pre-trial detention under suspicion of serious vote manipulation, a development that has raised institutional alarms.
“At the Counting and Results Center, 1,591 out of 2,557 polling stations are being recounted. The process is already fully completed in 23 municipalities,” the CEC said in its latest update.
The recount aims to ensure accuracy and integrity in the electoral process ahead of final results.
