The Office of the Prime Minister confirmed that Kosovo’s caretaker Prime Minister, Albin Kurti, has traveled to New York to participate in the High-Level Week of the 80th United Nations General Assembly (UNGA).

According to the statement, Kurti will hold bilateral meetings with world leaders during his stay in the United States. In addition, he is scheduled to meet members of the Albanian-American community and representatives of diaspora associations.

“Through participation in the High-Level Week and planned meetings, the aim is to deepen bilateral relations with partner countries, further strengthen Kosovo’s international subjectivity in relation to non-recognizing states, and present the opportunities and advantages that the Republic of Kosovo offers to foreign investors,” the government’s statement said.

Kurti’s trip comes shortly after Washington suspended the planned Strategic Dialogue with Kosovo, citing recent actions by the caretaker government that have heightened tensions and instability.

Also in New York for the UNGA is President Vjosa Osmani, who is engaging in separate meetings with U.S. and EU officials.
