Kosovo’s chief negotiator with the European Union, Jeton Zulfaj, visited Prague ahead of the fourth anniversary of Kosovo’s application for EU membership, seeking to advance the country’s European integration process and discuss the next steps toward obtaining candidate status.
During the visit, Zulfaj, accompanied by Kosovo’s Ambassador to the Czech Republic, Albesjana Iberhysaj Kapitaj, held meetings with representatives of Czech institutions.
Discussions focused on the Czech Republic’s support for Kosovo’s European path, its experience in the EU accession process, and opportunities to deepen bilateral cooperation.
According to the statement, the talks also addressed ways to advance Kosovo’s EU membership application and the active role the Czech Republic could play in the process.
Other topics included the Czech Republic’s experience in accession negotiations, strengthening parliamentary cooperation, and regional security.
Kosovo submitted its application for EU membership in December 2022. The country continues to pursue closer integration with the bloc, with candidate status remaining a key objective.
