The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Diaspora of the Republic of Kosovo has issued a strong advisory urging all Kosovo citizens to avoid traveling through or transiting the territory of Serbia.

The warning comes amid rising concerns over arbitrary arrests and detentions by Serbian authorities, which the ministry says pose a growing threat to the safety and rights of Kosovo citizens.

“The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Diaspora calls on all citizens of the Republic of Kosovo to avoid travel and transit through the territory of Serbia, due to the increased risk of arbitrary detentions and arrests by Serbian authorities,” the official statement reads.

The ministry stressed that the current situation presents serious security risks and that citizens should take all necessary precautions to protect themselves from potential provocations or unlawful actions while in or near Serbian territory.

Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti echoed the same warning earlier this week, stating:
“We call on all citizens of Kosovo to avoid travel to Serbian territory due to signs of increased risk of provocation and arbitrary detention by Serbian authorities against our citizens.”

The appeal underscores escalating tensions between the two countries and highlights the need for Kosovo citizens to exercise caution, especially in light of recent arrests and hostile incidents involving ethnic Albanians in Serbia.
