Humanitarian aid allocated by the Government of Kosovo for the people of Gaza has arrived in the enclave and distribution has begun immediately, according to Kosovo’s Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs and Diaspora, Donika Gërvalla.
The aid shipment, valued at €500,000, includes tents, food packages, blankets, and approximately 158,000 hot meal rations, aimed at assisting families facing severe humanitarian conditions amid the ongoing crisis.
“Yesterday afternoon, we received confirmation that the humanitarian aid allocated by the Government of the Republic of Kosovo, dedicated to the people of Gaza, has arrived and that distribution to families in need has begun through humanitarian partners on the ground,” Gërvalla said.
She emphasized that while the assistance cannot compensate for the immense loss and suffering experienced by civilians in Gaza, it is intended to provide relief to the most vulnerable, particularly children and the elderly, who are struggling to access even the most basic necessities.
“We know that nothing can replace the loss and pain there. But we hope that this modest assistance will offer some support and relief to families, especially children and the elderly, during days when even basic essentials are lacking,” she added.
Gërvalla also expressed gratitude to international partners who supported the delivery of the aid, highlighting the Republic of Türkiye and the Turkish Red Crescent for their cooperation in facilitating the humanitarian operation.
Kosovo’s contribution comes as international organizations continue to warn of worsening humanitarian conditions in Gaza, with shortages of food, shelter, and medical supplies affecting large segments of the civilian population.
