The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Diaspora of the Republic of Kosovo strongly condemns the recent statement by Serbia regarding the trilateral memorandum signed between Kosovo, Croatia, and Albania. Serbia stated that it would hold Croatia and Albania accountable for signing the Trilateral Military Cooperation Declaration alongside Kosovo.

The Ministry’s response emphasizes that this declaration is not only aggressive and threatening but also constitutes a direct violation of the Brussels Agreements, which Serbia claims to accept but has intentionally refused to sign, thus demonstrating once again its malicious intentions and lack of will to engage in genuine dialogue.

“By making such statements, Serbia undermines its commitments to building good neighborly relations with Kosovo and recognizing Kosovo’s institutions and legal framework as the only legitimate authorities within our country,” the response states.

Furthermore, the Ministry stresses that this behavior is completely unacceptable and represents yet another violation of the Brussels Agreement, which clearly stipulates that Serbia will not obstruct Kosovo’s international relations and will not speak on behalf of Kosovo in relations with other states and organizations.

“Serbia’s attempt to present itself as the ‘guarantor of peace in the Balkans’ is absurd. No country in the region and beyond has contributed more to the destabilization of the Western Balkans than Serbia, as evidenced by historical facts and recent developments,” the Ministry’s statement reads.

According to the Ministry, instead of issuing aggressive and deeply misleading statements, Serbia should focus on respecting the agreements it claims to accept, abandon its hegemonic ambitions, and take real steps to become a responsible actor in the region—starting with recognizing Kosovo’s independence and sovereignty.

“Moreover, before Serbia gives lessons to others about peace and stability, it should open its wartime classified archives so that its crimes can be brought to justice,” the response continues.

The Ministry concludes that “The Republic of Kosovo will not be intimidated by Serbia’s threats and will continue to strengthen its security and international partnerships in cooperation with its allies.”
