The Henley Passport Index has published its 2025 update, using exclusive data from the International Air Transport Association (IATA) to rank passports based on the number of destinations their holders can access visa-free. While European countries continue to dominate the top tier, Kosovo has made a modest leap forward.

Kosovo’s passport has advanced by seven positions, now ranking 61st globally, offering visa-free access to 82 destinations. This improvement follows recent diplomatic gains, including visa liberalization with the Schengen Zone and agreements with specific countries to remove visa requirements.

Despite this progress, Kosovo remains the lowest-ranked in the Western Balkans and among the weakest in Europe. In comparison, Belarus ranks just behind at 62nd with 81 destinations. Both countries fall well below the global average of 109 visa-free destinations.

At the top of the 2025 list, Singapore holds first place for the second year in a row, with access to 193 countries. Japan and South Korea follow in second place with 190. Seven EU member states — Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, and Spain — share the third position, each allowing entry to 189 destinations without a visa.

Other top performers include Austria, Belgium, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, and Sweden in fourth place (188 destinations), while Greece, Switzerland, and New Zealand round out the top five.

Although Kosovo’s passport strength is gradually increasing, it still faces a long journey to catch up with its neighbors and the broader European community.
