President of Kosovo, Vjosa Osmani, has been awarded the NATO Parliamentary Assembly’s Women, Peace, and Security Award, recognizing her leadership, contribution, and commitment to advancing peace, security, and democracy both in Kosovo and globally.
Upon receiving the award, President Osmani said it is “a special honor dedicated to the people of Kosovo, and in particular to all the women of Kosovo, who with courage, dignity, and love helped build our peace and achieve our freedom.”
She emphasized: “Our peace has been built on their sacrifice and bravery, while our democracy has been strengthened thanks to the dedication of women who stood unwavering at every step of our journey toward freedom and equality.”
President Osmani further highlighted that the recognition from the NATO Parliamentary Assembly also acknowledges Kosovo’s efforts to advance the Women, Peace, and Security Agenda, through the International Forum on Women, Peace, and Security and the Regional Center of Excellence, which the Presidency of Kosovo has turned into important platforms for regional and international cooperation.
This prestigious international award not only recognizes President Osmani’s leadership but also positions Kosovo as a model country worldwide for promoting women’s participation in peacebuilding, strengthening democratic institutions, and protecting human rights. She is the first leader from Southeastern Europe to receive this honor.
