Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK) Chairman Memli Krasniqi has reacted strongly to the decision of the Specialist Chambers in The Hague, which today rejected a motion filed by the defense lawyers of former KLA leaders to dismiss parts of the indictment.
In a public statement, Krasniqi called the ruling a missed opportunity to restore faith in international justice and its core values of objectivity, impartiality, and truth.
“The liberators, their families, we, and every citizen of Kosovo have never asked for favors—only justice. Justice free from prejudice. Justice that does not confuse freedom with guilt. Because freedom is not a crime. It never was. It never will be,” Krasniqi wrote.
Full Statement Highlights:
Krasniqi criticized the court’s decision to uphold charges against former President Hashim Thaçi, former Assembly Speaker Kadri Veseli, former Acting President and Speaker Jakup Krasniqi, and former MP Rexhep Selimi, calling it a failure to uphold the spirit of justice.
“History cannot and must not be rewritten in the silent halls of courtrooms. It was written in the sacrifices of our people for freedom,” he said, affirming the innocence of the accused and declaring them “liberators.”
“Justice may be delayed, but truth never changes. They are innocent. They are liberators. We await the final decision for their freedom with hope and conviction.”
He concluded with a powerful emotional message:
“The sun will rise again—for the liberators, for Kosovo, and for the truth.”
