Memli Krasniqi, leader of the Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK), has welcomed the Constitutional Court’s ruling, which obliges deputies to conclude the Assembly’s constitutive session, including electing the Speaker and Deputy Speakers, no later than 30 days.
“This judgment must be implemented immediately. The sooner, the better for the country,” Krasniqi stated.
PDK’s Stance and Call for Swift Action
Krasniqi emphasized that the PDK supported the AAK’s initiative for constitutional clarification, believing that “democracy is defended through legality and transparency.” He expressed satisfaction that the Constitutional Court “ended this deliberate game of delays by the VV-Guxo-Alternativa coalition, making it clear that they have no right to block the process and that the Assembly must be constituted within 30 days.”
In his full reaction, Krasniqi reiterated: “The Constitutional Court provided clarity: the election of the Speaker and Deputy Speakers of the Assembly must happen within 30 days. As we emphasized from the beginning, the agenda of the constitutive session cannot be changed at will, and no one has the right to impose secret voting without a constitutional basis and without a regular procedure.”
He affirmed that throughout this period, the PDK has acted “responsibly, seriously, and constructively,” offering solutions instead of blockades and demanding respect for the democratic order.
“PDK will continue to be part of the solution going forward. We hope that other parties will also act in the same spirit. Enough time has been lost – now let’s bring this matter to an end!” Krasniqi concluded.
