Memli Krasniqi, leader of the Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK), today met with Dame Karen Pierce, the United Kingdom’s Special Envoy for the Western Balkans. Their discussion centered on the current political developments in Kosovo and the wider region, with particular emphasis on the institutional crisis which, according to Krasniqi, is negatively impacting Kosovo’s functioning both domestically and internationally.
“I informed Ambassador Pierce about the Democratic Party of Kosovo’s positions and commitment to resolving this situation, through respecting the Constitution,” Krasniqi stated in a social media post, highlighting PDK’s proposed path forward amidst the deadlock.
He expressed gratitude for the UK’s continuous support to Kosovo throughout its state-building phases – from liberation and declaration of independence to current efforts for Euro-Atlantic integration.
A significant portion of the meeting was dedicated to the dialogue process between Kosovo and Serbia. “We also discussed the need for a final agreement with mutual recognition at its core, as a condition for lasting peace and full integration of the region,” he added, reiterating PDK’s stance on the outcome of the dialogue.
Krasniqi concluded the meeting by reaffirming PDK’s readiness to cooperate with international partners and to establish political stability in the country.
