Memli Krasniqi, leader of the Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK), stated that they have officially requested a consultation with the session chair, Avni Dehari, between parliamentary groups before today’s session begins.

Krasniqi emphasized:
“Our request today, just like yesterday, is to meet with parliamentary groups. We do not need consultation among ourselves because our stance is clear.”

He explained that this consultation aims to ensure that Lëvizja Vetëvendosje (VV) is certain it does not want to give the position to a more suitable or better-prepared candidate than the one they proposed for Speaker of the Assembly.

Krasniqi criticized VV’s previous proposal of Dimal Basha, describing it as “sudden, tendentious, and not a genuine attempt to elect a Speaker, but rather a tactic to test our position.”

However, Krasniqi reaffirmed that PDK will vote for a candidate who has not been part of the executive branch, if VV indeed decides to degrade the Speaker position with a candidate like Basha.

He clarified:
“We remain committed to voting for a candidate outside the executive. But the consultation request is to ask VV if they truly intend to lower the level of representation of Kosovo’s Assembly by placing a candidate who, in our opinion, does not meet the basic criteria for Speaker. Nevertheless, if VV considers Dimal Basha or a similar candidate to be the best choice for this position, representing the citizens of Kosovo, we will vote for him, even though we do not believe this decision is justified.”
