PDK Chairman Memli Krasniqi has strongly reacted to the recent racist chants calling for “death to Albanians” and “gas chambers for Albanians,” which were heard inside a sports hall in North Macedonia in the presence of Prime Minister Mickoski and a government delegation.
In a Facebook post, Krasniqi described these messages as grave and unacceptable, warning that they damage coexistence within North Macedonia and beyond.
“Albanians are a state-forming nation in North Macedonia and a crucial partner on the Euro-Atlantic path. Hate speech against them is not only dangerous but also deeply contrary to the democratic and European values that should unite our peoples,” Krasniqi wrote.
According to Krasniqi, remaining silent in the face of fascist language is a stance in itself, adding that the dignity and wellbeing of any community should never be negotiable.
“The Government of North Macedonia has a responsibility to clearly distance itself from all extremist acts, because silence is seen as approval. Just like another silence that is becoming increasingly loud: that of the outgoing Prime Minister of Kosovo, who, as the political godfather of this government in Skopje, bears moral and political responsibility for this growing anti-Albanian climate,” Krasniqi added.
He concluded by underlining that Albanians have contributed greatly to the state and will not allow anyone to trample on them again.
