Altin Krasniqi, the son of Jakup Krasniqi, has reacted to the request by the Hague Prosecution seeking 45-year prison sentences for each of the former leaders of the Kosovo Liberation Army (KLA).

In a Facebook post, Krasniqi said it would have been easier and more honest for the Prosecution to openly declare that Albanians should have remained passive, accepted killing, rape, humiliation, and inhumane treatment, rather than daring to fight for survival and dignity.

“In this distorted and deeply unjust narrative, the problem is not Serbia’s systematic crimes, but the courage of a people who refused to surrender to annihilation. The victim is relativized, while resistance is criminalized,” he added.

According to Krasniqi, however, history has never been written by those who bowed their heads, but by those who refused submission.

“A small part of the Albanian people chose resistance as a final act of survival—not as a political choice, but as a human necessity. Today, our very existence is the strongest proof that this struggle was just, unavoidable, and legitimate,” he further wrote.

Any attempt to criminalize this resistance does not represent justice, Krasniqi argues, but rather a dangerous political act aimed at rewriting history, equating the aggressor with the victim, and punishing the very right to freedom.
