Memli Krasniqi, leader of the Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK), has stated that his party did not request the interim measure set by the Constitutional Court. However, Krasniqi affirmed that the Court has the right to issue such a decision and that its rulings must be respected.
Seeking a Final Judgment and Addressing Political Stalemate
“We did not request that measure, but it is within their right, I believe there is a reason that I cannot prejudge,” Krasniqi said. “We will understand when the final decision is published. Our wish was for a final judgment before the deadline expires, but we hope it can be published even after August 8.”
Krasniqi described the current situation as “absurd” and noted the lack of clarity on the next steps. He argued that the February 9 elections should have produced functional institutions.
“The citizens on February 9 showed that they no longer tolerate the monist system that VV has installed, that is, the one-party system,” he added, referring to the Vetëvendosje Movement. “There has been more of a tendency for rule and governance. Sometimes it is not extraordinary to return to new elections, since this has not happened, even though it would be exhausting because we also have local elections.”
