The leader of the Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK), Memli Krasniqi, stated after his meeting with President Vjosa Osmani that it has become clear no party currently has the numbers to form a new parliamentary majority.

“The most important conclusion from today’s meeting is that no one can form a new parliamentary majority based on the current legislature. At least 52 MPs, represented by four Albanian party leaders and several minority representatives, have made it clear they are not part of any governing coalition,” Krasniqi said.

He emphasized that this situation makes a new majority mathematically impossible, and therefore, the President should proceed with calling early elections.

“This reality should be enough for the President to conclude that elections are unavoidable. Whether we like it or not, new elections are now imposed upon us,” he added.

Krasniqi proposed that the first Sunday within the constitutional deadline should be set as the date of the next elections, expressing hope that a decision will be made by November 5.

“We believe the first available Sunday within the constitutional timeframe should be the election date,” Krasniqi stated.

He also criticized Prime Minister Albin Kurti, saying that his request for more time only serves to prolong the political stalemate.

“Kurti is once again asking for a few more days. But it’s clear — not even in his best dreams can he form a majority. We will form the new government without Albin Kurti and Vetëvendosje,” Krasniqi concluded.
