On Monday, the Kremlin stated that a European counterproposal to a US peace plan for Ukraine is “completely unconstructive and does not work” for Moscow.

Kremlin foreign policy aide Yuri Ushakov acknowledged that some aspects of the US plan, proposed last week, are more favorable to Russia, although certain issues still require more detailed discussion, Reuters reported.

The US peace plan has heightened concerns in Ukraine and among European allies that Washington accepted key Russian demands regarding Ukraine’s renunciation of NATO membership, territorial issues, and the timing of any peace agreement.

Meanwhile, the European plan significantly alters the meaning and weight of key points regarding Ukraine’s NATO membership and territorial matters.

Russian President Vladimir Putin stated on Friday that the American peace proposals could serve as a basis for resolving the conflict, but if Ukraine rejects the plan, Russian forces would advance further.

According to some sources, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky may travel to the United States this week to discuss the most sensitive aspects of the plan with his American counterpart.

The US and Ukraine have been working on a “refined” plan to bring an end to the war with Russia.

Zelensky has stated that the Ukrainian delegation has already left Switzerland and will report on the discussions.
