Moscow has reacted sharply to Germany’s decision to support Ukraine with funding for long-range missiles, calling it a further provocation in the ongoing conflict.
The Kremlin spokesperson, Dmitry Peskov, condemned the move as “a very dangerous trend”, criticizing Berlin’s actions as “irresponsible” and escalating tensions.
“This is a very dangerous trend an irresponsible stance that Germany is taking,” Peskov stated.
This reaction came shortly after German Chancellor Friedrich Merz announced earlier today that Germany would fund the production of long-range missiles in Ukraine. The announcement followed a meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, during which Merz reaffirmed Germany’s continued support for Ukraine.
The move marks a notable shift in German policy, reflecting stronger alignment with Ukraine’s defense needs, but it has also drawn sharp rebuke from Russia, which views Western military support as direct involvement in the war.
