Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov stated on Tuesday that Russia does not expect any major breakthrough during the third round of peace negotiations in Istanbul with the Ukrainian delegation, according to The Guardian.

“There is no reason to expect any progress that could be described as miraculous; the current circumstances make it very difficult,” Peskov said. “We aim to pursue our interests, to guarantee them, and to fulfill the objectives we set from the beginning.”

When asked if he could provide a timeline for when a peace agreement might be reached, Peskov emphasized that he could not offer any guidance on that matter. “There is a lot of work to be done before we can even discuss the possibility of holding high-level meetings.”

His comments come just days after Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky reiterated his call for a face-to-face meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
