The political movement Kreni-Promeni criticized the Serbian government on Monday, accusing authorities of misusing the judiciary to punish opposition activists while allowing violent actors close to the government to act with impunity.

“While students and activists are persecuted, perpetrators of violence go unpunished. No violent individuals have been detained for incidents in Vrbas, Bačka Palanka, or Novi Sad. No one has been held accountable for attacks on peaceful citizens in Bački Petrovac during a photography exhibition. Not a single police officer has been suspended, despite numerous videos showing brutal and unjustified force against citizens,” the movement said in a statement.

Kreni-Promeni also condemned the court’s decision to extend house arrest for student Lazar Dinić, who is suspected of attempting to overthrow the constitutional order. Opposition lawmaker Radivoje Jovović of the Free Citizens Movement was also placed under 30 days of detention, while activist Isidora Čeleketić received three months of house arrest.

The movement added that former president of the Military Union of Serbia, Novica Antić, and local councilor Ivana Matović from the party Novo Lice Srbije have spent two months in detention “without any real evidence.”

“The number of arrests targeting those who oppose this government continues to grow. There is no selection by place or time—students at the Faculty of Philosophy in Belgrade are being forcibly removed from buses, and healthcare workers in Novi Sad are being detained while on duty, attending critically ill patients,” the statement said.

Kreni-Promeni called the situation a clear misuse of the legal system to suppress dissent, urging for accountability and equal application of the law.
