The Regional Water Company “Prishtina” (KRU Prishtina) has published its new water and sewage tariffs for 2026–2028, which take effect this month.

  • Residential water supply: €0.63 per cubic meter, a 40% increase compared to previous tariffs.
  • Sewage services for households: €0.12 per cubic meter, nearly a 60% increase.
  • Commercial and institutional water supply: €0.82 per cubic meter, up from €0.62.
  • Sewage services for commercial and institutional users: €0.28 per cubic meter, compared with €0.17 previously.

Rationale Behind the New Tariffs

KRU “Prishtina” explained that the tariffs are determined according to Law No. 05/L – 042, ensuring that they are fair, reasonable, and financially sustainable for service providers.

Tariffs are calculated based on the total revenue requirement divided by the volume of water sold, taking into account collection efficiency. Revenue requirements include:

  1. Operating expenses – ensuring continuous water supply and sewage services, including rising personnel and electricity costs.
  2. Capital maintenance – investments in network and equipment maintenance to reduce service disruptions.
  3. Return on Regulatory Asset Base – supporting asset modernization and service quality improvements.

KRU “Prishtina” emphasized that, even with higher tariffs, it remains committed to providing reliable, high-quality, and uninterrupted water services to citizens.
