The Regional Water Company Prishtina (KRU Prishtina) has announced it has begun distributing drinking water via tanker trucks to affected areas, until the situation stabilizes. A tanker will be stationed near the “Mihail Grameno” Primary School in Fushë Kosovë.
In an earlier statement, KRU Prishtina informed the public that it was forced to shut down operations at the Shkabaj water treatment plant, which supplies water to Fushë Kosovë, Obiliq, Drenas, and the Kalabria neighborhood in Prishtina.
This measure comes as a result of technical works on the Ibër-Lepenc canal, which have caused high levels of turbidity in the water—making it impossible to treat it for drinking according to the standards and technology used by the company.
