Pëparim Kryeziu, the spokesperson of the Government of Kosovo, has responded to the statement of the Serbian List about surveillance cameras in public spaces in the north of the country, saying that they are in every city and as such are in the service of public security. He emphasized that these cameras are managed by the police.
“In various Serbian-majority municipalities in Kosovo, including municipalities in the north, illegal Serbian structures and terrorist organizations, the ‘Civil Defense’ and the ‘Northern Brigade’ have continuously used surveillance cameras, which were accessible to the security services of Serbia”, wrote Kryeziu in X.
He further called the statement of the Serbian List as a reaction to the loss of funds for pressure and intimidation of citizens.
“In the past, it was the branches of the Serbian List that controlled these cameras. And when they had such control, none of them seemed to have worked on January 19, 2018, when Oliver Ivanovic was killed in the north of Mitrovica. The time of bandits and crooks turned terrorists of the ‘Northern Brigade’ and ‘Civil Defence’ is over. Everyone should get used to the rule of law in a democratic republic”, wrote Kryeziu.
Through a reaction, Lista Serbe has claimed that security cameras in public spaces violate the privacy rights of Serbian citizens.
