Acting Prime Minister Albin Kurti accused deputies from other parties of boycotting the vote for the constitution of the Assembly of Kosovo, Ekonomia Online reports.

He made the statement after questions from journalists at the conclusion of the groundbreaking ceremony for the Main Family Medicine Center in Shtime.

“Kosovo has a government, which is an acting government, and whose competencies are limited by Article 31 of the Law on Government. What Kosovo does not have is a Parliament. I always go there to constitute the Assembly; those who come but boycott by not voting, I don’t know why they come. To my knowledge, coming to the continuation of the session and boycotting the vote is politically irresponsible behavior, and legally it is a violation of the Constitution. The constitution of the Assembly is not only the responsibility of the election winner but of everyone. Once we constitute the Assembly, then my responsibility will be to form the new government. Until the new government, we have this acting government,” Kurti said.

He called on the deputies of the Assembly of Kosovo, as he said, to participate in the vote in accordance with the judgment of the Constitutional Court and their rights and obligations.

“And since we tried open voting, let’s also try secret voting, because the Constitutional Court’s judgment from 2014 also foresees it that way.

“The way out of what is popularly called a deadlock is clear; it just requires the will to walk that path. We respect the judgment of the Constitutional Court, but we must first have that,” Kurti stated.
