Acting Prime Minister Albin Kurti has provided details about his “long meeting” with European Union Envoy for the Kosovo-Serbia Dialogue, Peter Sorensen. Kurti said he asked for “greater gratitude” for Kosovo’s efforts to integrate the Serb community.
Kurti highlighted that the Serb community in Kosovo enjoys all constitutional rights, including reserved seats in the Assembly and the use of the Serbian language at all institutional levels. He noted that since about 500 Serb members left the Kosovo Police, 199 new Serb cadets have been integrated into the force.
“For more than two years, Albanians and Serbs have been working together in the four northern municipalities without any incidents. I asked that there be greater gratitude for Kosovo for this reality,” Kurti said. He added that the government’s actions are aimed at integrating the Serb community and are in line with international agreements, while criticizing Serbia for a lack of reciprocity.
