Kurti at the Meeting with the EU Chief: Kosovo Committed to Implementing Necessary Reforms for EU Membership

The Office of the Prime Minister has announced Prime Minister Kurti’s meeting with the new Head of the EU Office in Kosovo, Ambassador Aivo Orav.

According to the announcement, Kurti welcomed Ambassador Orav to Kosovo and offered close cooperation to advance Kosovo’s agenda towards EU membership. Kurti emphasized Kosovo’s commitment to implementing the necessary reforms for membership.

“In their first meeting, Prime Minister Kurti welcomed Ambassador Orav to Kosovo and offered close cooperation to advance Kosovo’s agenda towards joining the European Union. He highlighted that Kosovo applied for EU membership in mid-December 2022 and is committed to carrying out the necessary reforms. The EU Enlargement Plan is the right response to accelerate reforms, and Kosovo is among the first in the region to have submitted its reform agenda.”

They also discussed the relations between Kosovo and the EU.

“They discussed the relationship between Kosovo and the EU based on shared values and the advancement of fundamental freedoms. Prime Minister Kurti spoke about the governance results over nearly three and a half years, improvements in democracy, rule of law, and economic development indices, as well as new social programs for new mothers and children. Prime Minister Kurti thanked Ambassador Orav for the EU’s assistance and contribution and offered full cooperation in advancing the agenda for EU membership.”
