Kosovo’s Kurti Seeks EU’s Strong Commitment to Ohrid Agreement and Justice for Recent Attacks
Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti discussed Kosovo’s EU integration and relations with Serbia in his meeting with Kaja Kallas, the new head of EU foreign policy. Kurti praised Kallas, stating that she is “in the right place at the right time” to address the challenges faced by the Western Balkans.
“We have high hopes that Kosovo and the Western Balkans will benefit greatly from European values, democracy, financial and economic support, and overall peace and security,” Kurti said following the meeting.
Kurti called on the European Commission to persist in ensuring the implementation of the Ohrid Agreement, which was reached last year, and to keep it a priority whenever the dialogue with Serbia is discussed. He emphasized the importance of continuing the normalization of relations with Serbia based on this agreement.
Additionally, Kurti informed Kallas about the ongoing investigations into the recent attack on the Ibar-Lepenc canal in Zubin Potok on November 29. He also reiterated Kosovo’s request to Serbia for the extradition of Milan Radoičić, who is responsible for the armed attack on September 24, 2023, in Banjskë, Zveçan.
Speaking about the explosion on the Ibar-Lepenc canal, which Kosovo has blamed on Serbia, Kurti revealed that many elements linked to Russia were found in the attack.
