At the relaunch of the “Willy Brandt” Program for EU enlargement, hosted by the Socialists and Democrats in Brussels, Acting Prime Minister Albin Kurti openly criticized the European Union’s approach toward Kosovo and Serbia. Kurti pointed out that while Kosovo’s democratic reforms and rule of law efforts were praised in words, they were rarely supported by actions. Meanwhile, Serbia, despite provoking tensions and harboring the Banjska attackers, has received continued backing.

“Our policies were more liked than supported, whereas our neighbor’s policies were less liked but more supported,” Kurti said, emphasizing the unfair treatment Kosovo faces as it remains under EU restrictive measures, while Serbia benefits diplomatically.

He warned against tolerating Serbia’s balancing act between Moscow and Brussels, stressing that such behavior should no longer be ignored. Kurti reaffirmed that Kosovo’s future lies with the EU, and the country is ready to join the Union.

During the event’s opening, EU officials reiterated their goal to deepen cooperation with countries aspiring to join the EU, stating: “Our mission is clear: to make Europe whole and complete.”
