Prime Minister Albin Kurti stated that his meeting with French President Emmanuel Macron on Friday involved a deep and candid discussion lasting around two hours, focusing on cooperation, integration, security, defense, economic development, and regional stability, reports Ekonomia Online.
“On Friday afternoon, I was hosted by President Emmanuel Macron at the Élysée Palace for a meeting and working lunch. The warm welcome was followed by a substantive and sincere discussion of approximately two hours, covering cooperation, integration, security and defense, as well as economic and development issues. With President Macron, we discussed Kosovo’s path toward European Union membership and participation in other international organizations. We also addressed NATO’s continued and important role in Kosovo, cooperation with our transatlantic allies, and regional security in the Balkans. Strengthening Kosovo’s defense capabilities and relations with our northern neighbor were among the security issues discussed,” Kurti said.
He added that the meeting also addressed economic collaboration and education, including new Kosovo-France business forums following the successful event held last month in Prishtina, as well as French support in preparations for the 2030 Mediterranean Games in Kosovo.
Kurti further highlighted Kosovo’s humanitarian efforts: “At the end of January 2025, we allocated €500,000 in humanitarian aid for the Palestinian people in Gaza. Today, the Ministry of Defense has proposed that the Assembly of the Republic of Kosovo approve a decision to deploy the Kosovo Security Force to a mission in Gaza, supporting local security forces.”
