The Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, today welcomed Peter Sørensen, the European Union Special Representative for the Kosovo-Serbia Dialogue.
During the meeting, discussions focused on the dialogue process between Kosovo and Serbia. Sørensen was also briefed by Kurti on the latest developments in the country, particularly the steps toward the formation of institutions in the 9th legislature.
“The discussion centered around the EU-facilitated dialogue process and the way forward. The Prime Minister emphasized the importance of the full and unconditional implementation of the Basic Agreement and the Ohrid Annex. He also reminded Sørensen of the paramilitary attack in Banjska in September 2023 and the terrorist attack in Ibër-Lepenc in November of the same year, highlighting the ongoing security risks posed by the key terrorist figure, Milan Radojičić, and his group. This threat continues as long as Radojičić remains free in Serbia, despite his confession before Serbian authorities and the 160-page indictment from the Kosovo Prosecutor’s Office. Therefore, he reiterated the call for Radojičić and his group to be handed over to Kosovo for trial,” the announcement stated.
Furthermore, Kurti urged Sørensen to call on the EU to immediately lift the unjust restrictive measures against Kosovo.
“He highlighted the contradiction for the EU, its fundamental values, and the reforms undertaken by the Government of Kosovo with strong public support, as Kosovo experiences its greatest democratic rise, according to international indices, while simultaneously being subjected to EU sanctions,” the statement concluded.
