The President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić, took the time to comment on the op-ed by Kosovo’s Prime Minister, Albin Kurti, published in the prestigious American newspaper, “The New York Times.”

In a media address, Vučić said that Kurti is someone who “wants war, because he dreams of wearing a uniform and acting like a ‘little Zelensky’ in the Balkans, but that will remain an unrealized dream,” according to Serbian media reports.

He stated that Serbia collaborates with Russia a bit more than Kurti would like, and less than he (Vučić) would want.

“Madness is wanting war… He wants war because he has always wanted to wear a uniform and act in the Balkans like a ‘little Zelensky,’ but his wish will not be realized.”

In his op-ed titled “Don’t Doubt NATO. It Saved My People,” Kurti urges the U.S. not to downplay the importance of the NATO alliance and simultaneously mentioned the military cooperation between Serbia, led by President Aleksandar Vučić, and Russia.

“Some people in the United States have minimized NATO’s importance. Many European partners are concerned that after the U.S. presidential elections in November, America’s commitment to the alliance will wane.”

“Under Mr. Vučić’s leadership, Serbia has heavily invested in its military cooperation with Russia. A 2019 report from the U.S. Department of Defense concluded that ‘Serbia offers the most permissive environment for Russian influence in the Western Balkans.’”
