Prime Minister Albin Kurti announced today that, starting January 1, 2025, Kosovo will unilaterally permit free movement for all citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina holding national identity cards. This decision, according to Kurti, is expected to enhance connections between the citizens of Kosovo and Bosnia, fostering greater collaboration in various fields.

Kurti highlighted that the move will create more opportunities for cooperation and increase exchanges among students, entrepreneurs, athletes, artists, and professionals from both countries. He emphasized that the decision will especially benefit ethnic Albanians living in Bosnia, who have family in Kosovo, as well as Bosniaks in Kosovo who can now welcome their relatives from Bosnia.

“There are approximately 12,000 Albanians living in Bosnia and Herzegovina and around 27,000 Bosniaks living in Kosovo. Starting January 1, 2025, Kosovo will be their meeting point, and we will welcome them warmly,” Kurti said.

The Prime Minister expressed his belief that the facilitation of free movement will bring the two nations closer together, strengthening their social and cultural ties.
