Acting Prime Minister Albin Kurti stated that the ongoing investment in the “Kosova B” Power Plant is the largest ever made in this facility since its construction.
“Experts from the American company General Electric (GE), which designed the turbine technology for ‘Kosova B’ over 40 years ago, are now working side by side with KEK’s tireless workers to modernize them, thanks to KEK’s own investment of over €56 million. This is the largest investment ever made in the ‘Kosova B’ Power Plant,” said Kurti.
The acting Prime Minister emphasized that the modernization of the turbines is being undertaken for the first time in more than four decades — a move that, according to him, strengthens Kosovo’s energy security and reduces dependence on energy imports.
“This capital investment ensures increased domestic production, improves supply security, and reduces reliance on imports,” Kurti wrote, while sharing a KEK video documenting the progress of the modernization work.
