Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, marked the 75th anniversary of the Kosovo Archive, describing it as a key institution in preserving the country’s collective memory and historical truth.

Accompanied by Culture and Tourism Minister Saranda Bogujevci and Minister of Labour, Family and War Values Andin Hoti, Kurti emphasized the crucial role archives have played over decades in safeguarding national and state identity.

“For seven and a half decades, archives have been more than just an institution — they have been protectors of historical truth,” Kurti said, noting that archival collections document Kosovo’s history, challenges, and achievements.

He highlighted the importance of ongoing digitalisation efforts, which have improved both the security of archival materials and access for citizens and researchers. The introduction of an electronic system for managing archival content was also described as a major step toward modernization and institutional efficiency.

Kurti expressed gratitude to all contributors who have supported the development of the archive over the years and reaffirmed the government’s commitment to further strengthening the institution.

“Archives are the written memory of our state and society — a heritage that must be preserved and responsibly passed on to future generations,” he concluded.
