Kosovo’s Acting Prime Minister, Albin Kurti, declared during the certification ceremony of recruits for the Kosovo Security Force (KSF) that the country’s military is growing stronger every day. He highlighted the developments made during his four-year mandate, which include doubling the number of soldiers and investing in military equipment.
“We will continue with the support we have given over the last four years. During this mandate, we doubled the number of soldiers, recruiting 2,315 new soldiers, with 390 more to be added in the coming months, for a total of 2,705 soldiers. We have invested 319 million euros in armament, purchasing Bayraktar drones, anti-tank missile systems, and soon we will also have Black Hawk helicopters in our military inventory. We have laid the foundations for a defense industry with the factory for ammunition production ‘Made in Kosovo,’ all according to NATO standards,” said Kurti, as reported by Telegrafi.
Kurti also emphasized the dedication shown by the recruits during their nine-week training. He pointed out the significance of the graduation ceremony, which took place in the same month as Kosovo’s national glory, noting that March begins with the UÇK’s (Kosovo Liberation Army) epic and ends with NATO’s intervention in Kosovo.
“March starts with the Epic of the UÇK and ends with NATO’s intervention in Kosovo. The resistance of the Jashari family and the liberation war led by Commander-in-Chief Adem Jashari marks a historic turning point for our people on the road to freedom. It was proven that the tower is stronger than the homeland, that love for the homeland is stronger than the genocide of Serbia… submission and surrender were not an option, which is why victory was the result. This victory culminated on March 24, 1999, thanks to our allies,” Kurti said.
