The Acting Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, praised the Kosovo Police during the ceremony marking the 26th anniversary of its establishment.
Kurti emphasized that this anniversary is not just a symbolic date, but a testament to the shared journey of Kosovo as a state and society.
Highlighting security in the north of the country, Kurti stated that the Kosovo Police once again proved its courage and determination:
“In the north, the police once again gave no chance to crime, terrorism, or illegal structures sponsored by Serbia. Public buildings were reclaimed, illegal companies dismantled, and weapons and military equipment seized,” Kurti said.
He also commended the police for the arrests of individuals who committed crimes during the last war in Kosovo, underscoring the institution’s role in justice and accountability.
Kurti further noted that the Kosovo Police has demonstrated inclusivity by opening its ranks to many women and girls, showing it to be a force for all citizens.
The anniversary ceremony, which began at 19:00, was attended by senior state officials, Kosovo Police leadership, and international representatives.
Founded on September 6, 1999, the Kosovo Police remains one of the country’s key institutions, tasked with maintaining public order and security.
