Kosovo’s acting Prime Minister, Albin Kurti, today hosted a group of students from the French Sciences Po University, Humboldt University, University of Skopje, and New Bulgarian University. He emphasized that Kosovo stands as proof that economic development and democratic progress can advance in parallel.

In a press release, Kurti highlighted Kosovo’s average economic growth of 6% over the last four years, achieved while making significant strides in international indices for democracy, rule of law, and human rights.

“In addition to economic growth, our government has actively worked to distribute this growth among citizens through subsidies for farmers, free public education, benefits for children and new mothers, as well as increases in the minimum wage and salaries in both the public and private sectors,” the Prime Minister stated.

Kurti also noted that employment, especially for youth and women, has risen, contributing to a reduction in unemployment from over 25% to under 11%. He underscored support for businesses, which have increased their turnover and contributed to linking the economy with the labor market through dual education.

Furthermore, the Prime Minister highlighted investments in key and strategic areas, including security and defense, along with Kosovo’s orientation and aspirations for NATO and European Union membership.

During the meeting, Kurti answered student questions covering various topics, including relations with Serbia, security and defense measures, hybrid threats, the rise of fascism in Europe, and the challenges in confronting these threats. The conversation also touched upon authors in political philosophy and sociology.
