The acting Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, cast his vote today at the Faculty of Law in Prishtina, Rks News reports.

After voting, Kurti addressed the media, urging all citizens to exercise their democratic right to vote and determine who will govern their municipalities for the next four years.

When asked about his overnight stay in South Mitrovica, Kurti emphasized that local elections are just as important as national ones.

“It’s a good day for democracy and free will. The Republic of Kosovo is holding the second round of local elections in 18 municipalities. I just voted here in Prishtina, at the Faculty of Law. I call on all citizens with the right to vote to take this opportunity and participate in shaping their municipalities’ leadership for the next four years. Everything will go well — the Central Election Commission has made the necessary preparations, and all commissioners and observers are already present at the polling stations,” Kurti said.

Responding to further questions, he explained that the ballot was simple — “only two names, and one of them will become mayor tonight.”

“During this campaign, I worked in three shifts, traveling across Kosovo’s municipalities to monitor preparations for the elections. Local elections are no less important than national ones, as citizens of the Republic are also residents of municipalities. The quality of life, dignity, and well-being of citizens depend greatly on who leads their local governments,” he added.
