Albin Kurti, Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo, placed special emphasis on the Mediterranean Games, describing them as a state-level development project that requires broad institutional cooperation and long-term commitment.
Speaking at the 2025 Athlete of the Year awards ceremony organized by the Olympic Committee of Kosovo, Kurti stressed that preparations for this major sporting event go beyond logistics and organization. He characterized them as a serious inter-institutional and intersectoral engagement, with the government serving as a strong and consistent partner through to its successful realization.
“The Mediterranean Games Prishtina 2030 are a project that transcends sport — they are an investment in the country’s development and in Kosovo’s international image,” Kurti stated, underscoring the importance of coordination and professionalism at every stage of the preparations.
In addition to highlighting the Mediterranean Games, the Prime Minister honored the achievements of Kosovar athletes throughout 2025, praising their dedication, discipline, and character both domestically and internationally. He thanked the champions for every medal earned, their early training sessions, and their dignified representation of Kosovo on the global stage.
Kurti also noted that in recent years, capital investments and financial support for sports have increased, the legal framework has been strengthened, and concrete programs for athletes have been implemented — establishing higher standards of good governance in the sports sector.
In closing, he congratulated the 2025 laureates on their successes, emphasizing that continued support for sports will remain grounded in professionalism, meritocracy, and shared responsibility.
