Kurti Meets Albanian Diaspora in London, Highlights Kosovo’s 6% Economic Growth

Acting Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, began his visit to the United Kingdom with a meeting with the Albanian diaspora in London.

During the event, Kurti emphasized that Kosovo’s partnership with the UK is built on pillars such as defense and security cooperation, economic development, and diplomacy. This partnership strengthens bilateral ties, promotes knowledge exchange, and contributes to peace, stability, and mutual prosperity, the Prime Minister’s office stated.

Kurti highlighted key achievements of his government during the current mandate, including:

  • Fourfold increase in the defense budget
  • Training and equipping of Kosovo Security Force (FSK) personnel
  • Economic growth averaging 6%
  • Increased budget revenues and support for citizens and local businesses
  • Enhanced trade relations and UK investments

He also underscored the importance of the diaspora, announcing initiatives such as:

  • Citizen Diplomacy Fellowship, bringing young professionals from the diaspora into Kosovo’s public sector
  • Diaspora Investment Window, part of the Credit Guarantee Fund, enabling investment loans without collateral to encourage business ideas and expertise from abroad

Kurti invited the diaspora to invest in Kosovo, reaffirming the government’s commitment to deepening collaboration and fostering new initiatives to bring Kosovars abroad closer to home.

The event was also attended by Kosovo’s Ambassador to the UK, Ilir Kapiti.
