Kurti Meets Austrian Mayor, Thanks Austria for Support to Kosovo

Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti welcomed Stefan Szirucsek, the mayor of Baden bei Wien in Austria, along with city council member Nusret Bujari, to his office today.

Kurti congratulated Mayor Szirucsek on the successful twinning of the municipalities of Baden and Suharekë. He expressed pride in the integration of Kosovo Albanians in Baden and highlighted the important role of the “17 Shkurt” association in this process.

During the meeting, Kurti thanked Szirucsek for Austria’s support to Kosovo, especially during and after the war, and for the recognition of Kosovo diplomas. He emphasized the strong cultural, political, and historical ties between Kosovo and Austria.

Kurti also thanked Nusret Bujari for his work as a city council member in Baden and for his role as a bridge between Kosovo and Baden.

In response, Mayor Szirucsek praised the presence of Kosovo entrepreneurs in Baden and mentioned the city’s world heritage, expressing a desire to further strengthen relations, particularly in the field of tourism, where there has been a 50% increase in overnight stays from Kosovo in the past year.

Kurti discussed the importance of teaching the Albanian language in Baden’s schools and explored opportunities to introduce it into the city’s educational institutions. He also highlighted the participation of companies from Baden in the upcoming Austria-Kosovo economic forum to be held in Kosovo, underscoring the importance of economic cooperation between the two countries.
