Prime Minister Albin Kurti held separate meetings on Saturday with the leaders of the two largest opposition parties, Bedri Hamza of the Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK) and Lumir Abdixhiku of the Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK).
He first met with Lumir Abdixhiku of the Democratic League of Kosovo at the Assembly of Kosovo, while immediately after that meeting, Bedri Hamza of the Democratic Party of Kosovo arrived at the government building.
Before the meeting, Hamza said that the PDK’s position on the matter remains unchanged. According to him, the process of approving the law in the Assembly must first be completed at all stages and through all relevant committees.
“First, the law must be approved, and I reiterate, it must be approved at all levels, in both readings and by all committees,” Hamza said.
He stated that once this process is completed, the PDK is ready to discuss the issue of electing the president.
“We are open to discussing the issue of the president. We believe that the law must be approved, the country must have a president, and then we will return to our responsibilities as members of parliament,” the PDK leader said.
