Kosovo’s Prime Minister, Albin Kurti, met with Paula Dierenfeld, the Mayor of Johnston, Iowa, during her visit to Kosovo. The meeting focused on strengthening the relationship between Iowa and Kosovo, with discussions on expanding cooperation in agriculture, education, defense, and sports.
The Prime Minister provided an update on Kosovo’s economic development and democratic progress over the past four years, highlighting advancements in healthcare, education, and defense. He also emphasized Kosovo’s role as a host for major sports events, such as the 2030 Mediterranean Games and the upcoming 2024 European Volleyball Championship for U16 girls, which will be co-hosted with Albania.
Prime Minister Kurti further stressed Kosovo’s close partnership and alliance with the United States, citing significant joint projects, including the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) Compact program. This program focuses on investments in renewable energy, particularly through battery storage solutions, with an investment value of $236.7 million.
