Kosovo’s acting Prime Minister, Albin Kurti, today met with former Croatian President Stjepan Mesić.
Kurti expressed profound gratitude for Mesić’s invaluable contributions, highlighting his public defense of the rights of Kosovo Albanians during the late 1980s and early 1990s. Later, from his position as President of Croatia, Mesić provided unwavering support for Kosovo’s pursuit of freedom and independence.
In a warm atmosphere, they also discussed current political and regional developments, with a particular focus on cooperation between Kosovo and Croatia. Both parties underscored the importance of strengthening bilateral relations, especially in the fields of defense and security.
During the meeting, they assessed that the situation in the Balkans is better than three decades ago, though inherited challenges from the past remain.
As a token of appreciation for his role in defending the rights of Albanians, former President Mesić was recently honored with the title of “Honorary Citizen” by the Municipality of Gjilan.
