Following President Vjosa Osmani’s meeting, the Commander of NATO’s Allied Joint Force Command in Naples, US Admiral George M. Wikoff, also met with Kosovo’s Acting Prime Minister, Albin Kurti.
According to a statement released by the Office of the Prime Minister, Kurti congratulated Admiral Wikoff on assuming his new post and expressed Kosovo’s readiness for full cooperation.
During the meeting, Prime Minister Kurti emphasized that Kosovo’s full membership in NATO represents the strongest and most effective response for ensuring lasting peace, long-term stability, and regional security.
“While discussing the security situation, the Prime Minister underlined the Republic of Kosovo’s objective and commitment to full NATO membership as the best answer for sustainable peace, long-term stability, and security in the region. He added that Kosovo’s security is, first and foremost, the security of its borders,” the statement said.
Kurti further highlighted that Kosovo stands as a success story of NATO’s intervention, liberation, and independence, underlining the Alliance’s historic role in the country.
Additionally, the Prime Minister briefed Admiral Wikoff on institutional actions and concrete results in the fight against organized crime and the strengthening of the rule of law, as well as on increased investments in defense.
The meeting concluded with Kurti thanking Admiral Wikoff for his engagement and for NATO’s KFOR mission, describing it as a key pillar of security and stability in Kosovo.
